Two goal fourth lifts Morrisville field hockey to 5-3 win over LBC

LANCASTER, PA – Visiting SUNY Morrisville field hockey scored twice in the final frame to top host Lancaster Bible College by a 5-3 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) final Saturday morning in Lancaster.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Morrisville battled back from a 3-2 deficit Saturday afternoon, notching two tallies in the final frame as they claimed the 5-3 final over host Lancaster Bible in Lancaster.
  • Grace Hanehan (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) kicked off all scoring on the day with a tally just four minutes in, before adding her 10th goal of the season at 21:52 off a backhanded sweep.
  • Lancaster scored three straight to take the 3-2 lead after 35 minutes, but a score from Camberly VanValkenburg (Walton, N.Y.) tied the contest at three two minutes later.
  • Hanehan and Heather Cummings (Akron, N.Y.) were credited with the assists on the penalty corner opportunity.
  • Cummings gave the Mustangs their second lead of the contest at 48:50, hitting home her fourth goal of the year off the feed from Hanehan.
  • Vanvalkenburg put the game away for the Mustangs at 52:11, her second of the contest, as Morrisville collected the 5-3 victory.
  • Morgan Dueber (Owego, N.Y.) collected the win in net, stopping six, five alone in the first half.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
  • Morrisville will make a stop in Scranton tomorrow, facing the Marywood Pacers for a contest rescheduled from early in October.
