Keystone collects win over Mustangs

MORRISVILLE, NY – Savanna Robinson scored four of Keystone College's five tallies Wednesday evening as she paced the visiting Giants to a 5-1 non-league win over Morrisville field hockey on Drake Field in Morrisville.

THE BASICS:
  • Final Score: Keystone 5, Morrisville 1 (halftime – tied 1-1)
  • Location: Drake Field, Morrisville, N.Y.
  • Records: Keystone 8-7; Morrisville 1-14

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Keystone's Savanna Robinson scored early for the visiting Giants, netting her first of four tallies just 3:10 into the contest as she weaved through the defense for the 1-0 visitor lead.
  • Morrisville State's Grace Hanehan (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) evened the contest at one 11 minutes in, utilizing her speed and ability to get by the defense for the diving back handed sweep from the left side of the circle.
  • Keystone had the opportunity to make it a 2-1 ball game before the half, but Morrisville goalkeeper Morgan Dueber (Owego, N.Y.) stopped Robinson as she came out to meet the attacker and turn back the shot attempt.
  • Keystone, though, would add two in each the third and fourth quarters, while keeping the Mustangs at length.
  • Heaven Houck gave the Giants the two-goal lead with her penalty stroke conversion in the 35th minute, before Robinson again weaved her way through the defense for her second score of the night.
  • In the final frame, both tallies came off the stick of Robinson, who extended the lead to three with her rebounding score inside the left post, before nailing her fourth tally from the right side of the circle for the comfortable 5-1 lead.
  • Dueber, who recorded the loss, turned away seven.

WHAT'S NEXT:
  • Morrisville State will travel to Lancaster Bible for the final NEAC contest of the season Saturday, also making a stop at Marywood University on Sunday before wrapping up the season next week at Cortland.
