Morrisville State women blanked by Hamilton College

CLINTON, NY – The Morrisville State women's soccer team fell to host, Hamilton College on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 7-0. The Continentals, who are ranked fourth in all of Division III, released this afternoon, sit at 5-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in NESCAC play. The Mustangs drop to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The Continentals got off to a strong offensive start, notching their first goal in the opening three minutes of play. Hamilton never looked back and went on to score five additional goals before closing out the first half, to take a 6-0 lead into halftime.
  • The Mustang defense held strong in the second 45' of action, allowing only one goal on 28 shots in the final half.
  • Six different players scored for Hamilton College; junior forward, Cat Gambino scored two of her own in the victory.  
  • Marissa Curtis (Manlius, NY) and Lydia Young (Cuyler, NY) split time in goal for the Mustangs. Curtis recorded 13 saves and allowed six goals in 60' of action. Young relieved Curtis in the second half, playing the last 30', tailing 11 saves and allowing one goal.
  • Hamilton College held the afternoon's advantage in shots, 60-2, and corner kicks, 7-1. The Continentals have remained unbeaten in their last four games, outscoring opponents 17-3.

Women's Soccer is back in action this Saturday, resuming North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play at SUNY Poly, with action expected to start at 2:00pm.
