Strong Serving and Balanced Attack Propels Mustangs past SUNY Cobleskill 3-0

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Volleyball team finished their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) slate with a 3-0 victory on the road against the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill to remain unbeaten in conference play.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Mustangs jumped out to early leads in all three sets behind a strong serve game and a balanced offensive attack.
  • Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) led the way offensively, collecting four of the team's 11 aces and putting away nine kills.
  • Elycia Crittenden (Louisville, Ky.) contributed to points both offensively and defensively, posting seven kills and rejecting attack attempts with four solo blocks.
  • Setters Kim Dunkleman (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Helena Hanes (Brockport, Pa.) combined for 28 of the Mustangs' 32 assists.
  • The Mustangs are securely in the top spot in the NEAC standings.  A full announcement regarding the NEAC Tournament will be made by the conference office on Monday, October 29.

WHAT'S NEXT 

As Morrisville waits for NEAC opponents to wrap up their conference play this weekend, the Mustangs will hit the road for a non-conference tournament on Friday and Saturday.  Friday night's matchup will be a 6 PM start against Union on their home court, while Saturday's matches will be played at Skidmore.  Morrisville will face Skidmore and SUNY New Paltz at 10 AM and 12 PM respectively on Saturday.
