MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Men's Ice Hockey team looked to make a big impression on the home crowd in their first action at Morrisville State's IcePlex on Friday night.  While they did not come out with a victory, they did skate to a 1-1 draw against the Bears from SUNY Potsdam. 

The Mustangs and Bears battled back and forth throughout the first two periods, despite Morrisville having the upper hand in shots on goal, notching 32.  

The game would remain scoreless until the 3:25 mark in the third period, when Storm Adams (Akwesasne, N.Y.) found the back off the net off of a Rick Eberhart (Lockport, N.Y.) pass, giving the Mustangs the 1-0 advantage. 

Morrisville's defense, including freshman goal tender, Jared Young (Pueblo West, Colo.) locked down the Bears offense for much of the third period.  Young recorded 11 of his 28 saves in the third, but it was one shot off of the stick of Vinny Caligiuri that got past him at the 16:32 mark, giving the Bears the equalizer. 

Both Young and SUNY Potsdam's Brendan McMenime turned away all four shots each faced in the overtime period to preserve the SUNYAC opening weekend tie for both teams. 

Morrisville will return to the ice tomorrow evening at 7 PM as they travel to SUNY Potsdam for the return trip of their SUNYAC opening weekend series.
