Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Visiting Morrisville State College men's soccer scored twice in the second half, as they topped host Penn College of Technology by a 3-1 final Sunday afternoon in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The win boosts the Mustangs to 7-1 overall, 6-0 within North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action, while Penn drops to 2-8, 1-4 in conference play.
Griffen MacWatters (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) led Morrisville State with two scores, netting the first nine minutes in as he rifled the ball into the back of the net after gathering the deflection off a Penn defender.
The Wildcats evened the score late in the half with a thru ball that beat Morrisville State keeper Eric Berglund (Elmira, N.Y.) to send the game into the break tied at one.
It didn't take long, though, for the Mustangs to regain the lead in the second half, as Jamieson McKoy (Bassatterre, St. Kits) fed a cutting MacWatters for his second tally of the day, and the eventual game winner.
Philemon Appiah (Kumasi, Ghana) put the game away for the visitors in the 79th minute, scoring the cross from Alan Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) for the 3-1 lead and eventual win.
Berglund registered one save in the win for the Mustangs, as Morrisville State held a 32-4 advantage in shots over the Wildcats on the day.
Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, hosting Penn St. Abington on Drake Field in a NEAC showdown to claim the overall lead in the conference standings. Kickoff will take place at approximately 2 p.m. in Morrisville.
