Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Potsdam swept host Morrisville State College Saturday night, handing the Mustangs a 3-1 defeat in a crucial State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) weekend matchup in Morrisville.
The loss drops the Mustangs to 7-12-5 overall, 5-9-2 in conference play. The Bears pull even at 10-10-3, 6-7-2 in SUNYAC action.
After a scoreless opening period, Potsdam was first to strike at the 8:19 mark in the second, as Jake Butler netted the power play score with Todd Thomas and Dylan Vander Esch registering the assists.
The visitors took a 2-0 lead 5:25 into the third with a goal by Vander Esch, before senior Steve Dol (Ingersoll, Ontario) put the Mustangs on the board slapping the puck past Bear netminder John Hall, making it a 2-1 game with just under 13 to go.
With time winding down, Morrisville State pulled goaltender Steve Dombrosky (Elizabethtown, PA) for the extra skater, but Potsdam was able to post an empty net tally off the stick of Trevor Cope to put the game away and collect the win.
Dombrosky finished with 30 saves in 59:50 of play, including 11 in the final period.
Hall turned away 30 for the win.
Prior to the contest, the Mustangs acknowledged its senior class.
