Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs traveled to Fredonia State on Saturday evening to complete their SUNYAC season series. Unfortunately, the Mustangs were unable to bounce back from their Friday night defeat at home, losing to the Blue Devils 4-2.
The Mustangs were able to take an early lead, going up 1-0 just 47 seconds into the contest. Danny Liscio (Woodbridge, Ontario) netted the goal for Morrisville, while Jordan Carvalho (Brampton, Ontario) and CJ Stubbs (Pleasant Grove, Vt.) picked up the assists.
Morrisville stepped up their defense in the first period, killing three straight penalties. The Mustangs and the Blue Devils picked up off-setting penalties at the 13:31 mark, but three penalties by Fredonia allowed Morrisville to be on power play for nearly the rest of the first period.
The Mustangs held their slim lead until the Blue Devils evened the score seven minutes in to the second period. However, the Mustangs battled back three minutes later and regained the lead when Stubbs scored halfway through the second period. Liscio added the assist.
Morrisville entered the third and final period up 2-1 on the host Blue Devils. The Mustangs would cling to that lead until the seven minute mark, when Fredonia would post three goals in three minutes for a 4-2 lead. The two goal lead was enough for the Blue Devils as the Mustangs were unable to mount a comeback.
Morrisville will travel to Oswego State on Friday, November 20 for a 7 PM puck drop before they host the Lakers at home on Saturday, November 21. Game time at the IcePlex is also scheduled for 7 PM.
