Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College volleyball team opened their final NEAC Pool Play event by topping Cobleskill 3-0 on Friday night. The Mustangs battled the Fighting Tigers on the neutral court of Gallaudet University.
The Mustangs asserted themselves early, downing the Fighting Tigers 25-13 in the first set. Morrisville continued their run, putting away Cobleskill 25-20 in the second set and 25-18 in the third.
Morrisville turned in an exceptional serving performance, tallying nine aces in the match, three of which came from Sarah Linn (Portville, N.Y.). The Mustangs created a balanced attack as Courtney LaVere (Oswego, N.Y.) and Emilee Niejadlik (Hamburg, N.Y.) each posted five kills in the match. Helena Hanes (St. Mary's, Pa.) tallied 10 assists and four kills in only seven attempts.
The Mustangs will return to the court at Gallaudet on Saturday to wrap up their 2015 conference schedule. The first match of the day is slated for 10 AM against the host Bison from Gallaudet, followed by a 12 PM match up against the Wildcats from SUNY Poly.
