Morrisville State men down Route 20 Rival Cazenovia, 4-1

Box Score

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team posted a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory Thursday night, topping visiting and Route 20 rival Cazenovia by a 4-1 final on Drake Field in Morrisville.

The win is the 10th for the Mustangs on the season as they up their record to 10-3-2 overall, 9-1-1 in conference play. Cazenovia drops to 7-8, 6-5 in NEAC play.

Morrisville State posted two quick tallies in the opening five minutes of the contest, the first a mere 2:02 in as Danny Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) had a one-touch on the thru ball by Accele Rando (Rome, N.Y. / Thailand) along the right side of the box.

Within minutes, the Mustangs added another off the foot of Joe Sheehan (Liverpool, N.Y.) who buried the thru ball sent down the center of the box by Jamieson McKoy (Bronx, N.Y.) to give the hosts the 2-0 lead 4:35 into the contest.

Cazenovia was able to get one on the board midway through the first half, as Conor Cahalan was credited with the score as the deflection off a blocked shot sailed off his back into the right side of the net.

Morrisville State led 2-1 at the half.

In the second, Alan Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) chipped the ball from just inside the 6-meter box to about eight yards out in the center to a cutting McKoy who buried the ball in the net for a 3-1 Mustang lead in the 52nd minute.

Less than six minutes later, Morrisville State added their final tally of the day, as Sheehan posted his second score on a one-timer off the feed from the left by A. Peckham.

Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) was the victor in net for the Mustangs, making two stops, as Morrisville State limited Cazenovia to just seven total shots on the day, three on goal.

Nicholls finished with seven saves in the contest.

Morrisville State returns to the field next Wednesday, hosting Oswego State for a non-conference match up at 4 p.m. on Drake Field.
