Box Score COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's basketball team rolled to a 67-35 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory Wednesday evening, topping SUNY Cobleskill on the road in Cobleskill.
The win boosts Morrisville State to 11-5 overall, 7-2 in conference play. Cobleskill drops to 2-12, 1-8 in NEAC action.
For a second straight game, a trio of Mustangs posted double figures to lead the visitors past the hosts, including freshman forward Marissa Woodard (Unadilla, N.Y.) who registered her first collegiate double-double behind her 16 point, 11 rebound and four blocked shot performance on the night.
Senior guard Alyssa Gratien (Syracuse, N.Y.) led all scorers with 19 points on the night, adding three assists three steals to her tallies, while teammate and freshman forward Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) contributed 11 points and six rebounds to the win.
Shelby Preston led the Fighting Tiger efforts with her own double-double, netting 10 points while grabbing 15 rebounds, as teammate Annette Hogan added 11 points in the loss.
Morrisville State went on an 8-0 run over the final 1:30 of the first half to claim the 35-22 lead after one, before opening the second half with a 13-3 run to increase their lead to as many as 23 just six minutes into the final period.
The Mustangs overpowered the hosts throughout the second half, growing the lead to as many as 33 down the stretch to collect the win while they held Cobleskill to just 13 points in the final 20.
Morrisville State is on the road Saturday at Keuka College.
