Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's basketball team suffered a 76-66 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) setback to cross-town rival Cazenovia College Wednesday night, on the road in Cazenovia.
With the loss, the Mustangs drop to 4-10 overall, 2-5 in NEAC play. Cazenovia improves to 2-13 overall, 2-5 in conference action.
Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) led the Morrisville State efforts, posting a collegiate best 26 points, while snagging seven rebounds, assisting four others and stealing five. Thirteen of her points came from the free throw line where she went 13-for-17.
Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added a double-double performance on the night, netting 14 points and controlling the glass in the contest, with 13 rebounds, five of which were offensive boards.
Four posted double digits for Cazenovia, including Haley Zambito who had 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Rachael McDonough added 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds, while teammates Erin O'Malley had 14 and Kimberly Vrigian 13.
Both teams played a back and forth opening half and headed into the break knotted at 32, before Cazenovia scored the first seven points of the second to build up a lead over the Mustangs that held until the 8:01 mark.
Caitlyn Adams (Sherburne, N.Y.) hit a jumper at 8:01 to tie the game for the 10th time on the night, and Anderson added one from long range seconds later to give Morrisville State the two point advantage. But the Wildcats went on a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to regain the lead, and held on for the win.
Morrisville State turned the ball over 14 times alone in the second half, and shot just 27.3% from the floor, while Cazenovia, behind Zambito's 4-of-5 three's, hit 44.8% in shot attempts.
The Mustangs return to the court Saturday, traveling to Keuka College.
