SUNY Morrisville head men’s lacrosse coach Christopher Cooper announced the addition of Zach Belter as assistant coach for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Belter comes to Morrisville from St. Bonaventure University where he had a stellar five-year career with the Bonnies as a long pole defender, twice serving as captain.
Belter completed his career with St. Bonaventure as the all-time school record-holder for caused turnovers (62), while ranking second in ground balls (93) and third in games played (50). He was a two-time All-MAAC All-Conference honoree, ranking third among all MAAC players in conference play for caused turnovers.
His efforts on the field assisted the Bonnies to a top-10 national rank in defense in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, while St. Bonaventure captured a share of the league regular season title in 2021.
The Wheatley, N.Y. native was selected by the Buffalo Bandits in the first round, 19th overall pick, in the 2022 National Lacrosse League (NLL) entry draft and has signed a two-year deal with the Bandits beginning this season.
Belter will also be competing in the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships, attending training camp this fall for the 2024 United States Men’s Box National Team.
