Walter Burks

Burks is no stranger to the Mustang football program, rejoining the staff as assistant coach responsible for defensive backs in 2015, following a six year absence. Burks served as the head coach for the Syracuse Express Semi-Pro Football team for two years.

In his second season with the Syracuse Express, Burks coached the team to a 2002 New York Amateur Football League runner-up position. He served as vice president of the New York Amateur Football League for three years.

In five seasons on staff with the Mustangs, Burks coached several Northeast Football All-Conference selections, including All-American Jason Tanner, who recorded a record-breaking season in 2003 before continuing his career at Syracuse University.

Burks served for six years in the United States Marine Corps earning an honorable discharge at the Sergeant rank.
