Road to Morrisville: Andrea Cofrin was named interim head coach of the women’s lacrosse program for the 2022-23 season.
 
Cofrin, who served as a volunteer assistant with the Mustangs for the past two seasons, takes the reins with a wealth of coaching experience, having had head coaching roles with Division I, II and III institutions.
 
Prior to her time with the Mustangs she served as the head coach and associate professor of physical education at Columbia University for four seasons. During her time with Columbia she registered the most wins in program history in the Ivy League, appeared in the Ivy League Tournament, while having several single season and career records rewritten. In addition, Cofrin had several players earned to the All-Ivy Team.
 
Cofrin also served as an assistant with the Yale women’s lacrosse program, serving as the recruiting and defensive coordinator, while guiding the program to an overall 18th rank among NCAA Division I program in scoring defense.
 
Before joining the Bulldogs, she spent a year with the Saint Anselm College program as head coach, finishing 13-5 on the season in 2014, while ranking ninth nationally. Her program was one of eight teams selected to appear in the NCAA championship tournament.
 
Cofrin spent five seasons on the sidelines at Siena College where her squad appeared four straight seasons in the MAAC Tournament. Across her career with the Saints, she amassed 18 All-MAAC selections, 23 All-Academic student-athletes, while coaching the program’s first ever Defensive Player of the Year. In 2009, she was named the MAAC Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year.
 
Her involvement extended beyond the playing field while at Siena, guiding the Saints in community involvement with local organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, and Double H Ranch – Camp Ride Challenge.
 
Cofrin began her collegiate coaching career as head assistant at Siena in 2004 before joining the staff at the University of Dallas the following season as head coach of the women’s lacrosse and soccer programs. She also had a two-year stint with Lees-McRae College as head coach of the women’s lacrosse program.
 
A graduate of Frostburg State University, Cofrin was a four-year starter at defense and midfield, guiding the team to two ECAC Championship Tournament appearances, and serving as captain her senior season. In addition, she had a two-year soccer career while earning her degree in sociology.
 
For several years, Cofrin has been active in the local community with camps and clinics, while maintaining an active membership with US Lacrosse and the IWLCA. Cofrin is a 2010 graduate of the NCAA Coaches Academy and 2011 graduate of the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy Dimension I.
 
She holds certification in Ayurveda Nutrition and Precision Nutrition and is a 200-RYT Yoga Instructor.
