SUNY Morrisville Athletics Wall of Fame Criteria

Purpose:
Established in 1996, the SUNY Morrisville Athletics Wall of Fame recognizes excellence and tradition by athletes, coaches, administrators and department staff members who have made outstanding contributions to the intercollegiate athletics program, as a joint project of the Morrisville College Alumni Corporation and the Athletics Department.
 
Nomination Criteria:

Eligibility for Athletes:
A nominee shall have -
  • Departed 5 years prior to selection.
  • Attended SUNY Morrisville for a minimum two years as a full-time student.
  • Participated in a varsity intercollegiate sport for at least two years in the sport of consideration.
  • Shown athletic involvement, honors, awards, team contributions and/or leadership as evidenced by post-season acknowledgement such as All-American, All-State, All-Conference, individual championships and record setting performances.
Eligibility for Former Administrator, Coach or Department Staff Member:
 A nominee shall have -
  • Served SUNY Morrisville for at least 10 years
  • Are not presently, and have not been in the past five years, on the athletic staff at the college
    • A coach with at least 15 years’ coaching service at Morrisville will be automatically eligible for nomination as soon as they discontinue coaching in their primary sport.
    • An administrator or staff member with at least 15 years’ service at SUNY Morrisville can become eligible for nomination as soon as they discontinue service to the College.
  • Must have performed an outstanding and/or special service to the athletics program.
  • Demonstrated superior competence and professionalism in making contributions to the intercollegiate athletics program while at the college.
  • Strong consideration will be given to the following: won/lost record, length of service, post-season playoff appearances, conference/regional/national sport committee service, championships won, accolades/accomplishments as a head coach.
Eligibility for Teams of Distinction:
Nominations shall include
  • A minimum of 10 years must have elapsed from the graduation date of each individual on the team.
  • Varsity teams that have demonstrated or attained a specific level of success (NJCAA or NCAA Tournament, Conference Championship, etc.) in any year and who have represented the college and athletics department in an outstanding manner.
 
Nominations:
Nominations will be accepted by the SUNY Morrisville Athletics Department on an on-going basis. To be considered for the induction year, a nomination must be submitted no later than March 1 of the induction year.
Nominations will only be accepted through the online nomination portal and will be collected by the Athletic Communications Director.

To be complete, a nomination should include a current resume of the nominee’s athletic achievements, their profession and civic activities, and other supporting materials evidenced by statistics (if applicable), letters of recommendation or other highlights and honors to assist the Selection Committee with the nomination. 

Candidates nominated for induction remain eligible for five years. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
