MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting Union College scored 28 unanswered points in the second half of Saturday afternoons home opener for the Mustangs, collecting the come from behind win with a 38-17 final decision in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting Union College scored 28 unanswered points in the second half of Saturday's non-conference matchup at SUNY Morrisville, downing the host Mustangs 38-17 on Drake Field in Morrisville.
• Morrisville led 17-7 midway through the third quarter before the Garnet Chargers put together a come-from-behind effort over the final 17 minutes to earn the win.
• A 25 yard field goal by Ben Stark brough the contest within one score but it was a sack fumble on the ensuing Mustang possession that turned the ball over to the visitors on the Morrisville 21, setting up a seven yard rush up middle from Brady Markowski to tie the game at 17 with 16 seconds remaining in the frame.
• Union forced the Mustangs to punt the ball away with 11:48 to go in the fourth, and within three plays, Luke Sheehan connected with Evan Anderson for a 51-yard touchdown score down the deep middle, giving the visitors their first lead since the 10:31 mark of the first quarter.
• The Garnet Chargers marched downfield on their next possession, after forcing Morrisville to a quick three-and-out series, and took advantage of back-to-back whistles before capping off the drive with a 47-yard scoring pass play from Sheehan to Kaden Gore for the 31-17 lead.
• Morrisville had a final drive attempt late in the frame, but Logan Watson (Lowville, N.Y.) was picked off and Union's Daniel O'Leary returned the ball for a defensive touchdown, giving the visitors the 38-17 win.
• Union put the first score of the day on the board at the 10:31 mark of the first quarter, completing a 60-yard drive with a three-yard pass from Sheehan to Owen Corrigan on the Garnet Chargers opening drive.
• Morrisville responded midway through the second quarter as Watson scrambled to find Mason Ondreyko (Wallkill, N.Y.) toeing the back of the endzone for the seven-yard scoring strike, completing the Mustangs three minute drive that covered 64 yards in six plays.
• The Mustangs missed the extra point, sending the kick off the right upright and sent the game into the halftime period with a 7-6 Union lead.
• Morrisville had the momentum to start the second half, taking the lead on a 49-yard rush down the middle as Isaac Sylvain (Schenectady, N.Y.) broke free of two tackles for the score, before Watson connected with Ondreyko for the two-point conversion and 14-7 lead.
• Jesus Cediel (Bronx, N.Y.) extended the lead to 17-7 with a 20-yard field goal midway through the frame, but it was Union that reversed the tables and took control of the rest of the contest en route to the win.
• Watson finished 25-for-36 for 171 yards and three interceptions, while Dom Dorman (Gloversville, N.Y.) completed his lone pass attempt for 27-yards as the Mustangs collected 198 yards thru the air on the afternoon.
• Sylvain led the Mustangs efforts in the running game, collecting 71 net yards on 14 carries.
• Lawrence Duncan IV (Bath, N.Y.) led the receiving unit with eight catches for 44 yards, with Jalyn Jacques (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) adding another 51 on his two receptions.
• Israel Baker (Troy, N.Y.) collected 10 stops to lead the defensive unit, forcing a fumble and registering two quarterback hurries, with teammate Kahlil Terry (Binghamton, N.Y.) adding nine tackles, four solo, in the efforts for the Mustangs.
• Sheehan completed 17-of-29 passes for 215 yards, hitting Evan Anderson three times for 63 yards and Kaden Gore for another 58.
• Brady Markowski posted 99 net yards on the ground as Union recorded 126 total rushing yards on the afternoon.
• Dwayne Hinds led the Union defense with nine tackles, while Alex Carucci and Logan Miller each posted seven.
