Morrisville women close season at home against Fredonia

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team closed out the 2025 season on their home turf Wednesday afternoon, as visiting Fredonia collected the 20-5 SUNYAC on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse closed out the 2025 season campaign Wednesday as they hosted Fredonia State in SUNYAC play, falling 5-20 in the league outing.
  • Fredonia posted the first three tallies of the contest before Iyla Lilleby (Medina, N.Y.) put the Mustangs on the board with her unassisted score at the 9:07 mark to make it a 3-1 game.
  • The Blue Devils increased their lead to 7-1 with 2:42 to go, but a final strike from Morrisville's Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) in the first frame, sent the game into the second with a five goal deficit for the hosts.
  • Fredonia posted five scores in the second quarter to increase the advantage to 12-2 at the break, and added two more scores to open the third, before Ingersoll notched back-to-back tallies to add to the Morrisville total.
  • Mikaela Iza (West Babylon, N.Y.) collected the Mustangs third score of the frame, a down tally, but Fredonia closed out the contest with the final five tallies of the day to earn the win.
  • Samantha Budney (Pine Bush, N.Y.) and Ingersoll led the Mustang efforts in the ground ball game, collecting four apiece, while combining for seven draw controls and four caused turnovers.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) had four saves in the loss between the pipes, appearing in the opening half of action, before Aniyah Smith (Grovetown, Ga.) added two more in the second half.
  • Emma Cockerel led Fredonia with seven points, netting five goals and two assists, while posting two ground balls and a caused turnover for Fredonia.
  • Ashleigh Manns registered the win in net, turning aside five.
