Morrisville women drop SUNYAC bout with Canton

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball had two net double figures in Saturday's SUNYAC bout with visiting SUNY Canton, but it wasn't enough as the Roos claimed the 84-62 victory over the Mustangs in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Canton claimed an 84-62 victory over host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball Saturday afternoon, dropping the Mustangs to 1-4 overall in SUNYAC action.
  • Morrisville had two net double figures on the day, including a 17 point effort from Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) who also snagged six boards and collected a steal.
  • Kieonna Christmas (Fultonville, N.Y.) added 11 points and just missed a double-double outing as she pulled down 10 rebounds, two on the offensive glass.
  • Jakiera Stackhouse (Liverpool, N.Y.) contributed eight points and three boards off the bench for Morrisville alongside seven from Hayley Dawson (Papamoa, New Zealand).
  • Canton had four post double digits, led by Natalie Bartle with 21.
  • Bartle, who also had six rebounds and six assists, saw teammates Hope Aniceto and Torie Moore contribute 18 apiece to the win, while Sierra Pabo chipped in 16.
  • Morrisville shot 40.3% from the floor on the day, but Canton edged the hosts hitting 50% across the contest, including an 8-for-16 effort from long range.
  • Morrisville held the slight advantage in the paint, 42-40, over the Roos, but Canton capitalized on the fast break with a dominating 20-4 performance.
