Trowbridge nets OT winner for Mustang women in Castine

CASTINE, ME – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team wrapped up the weekend's action with a thrilling 18-17 win over host Maine Maritime Academy Sunday afternoon in sudden victory overtime.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse picked up a thrilling overtime win Sunday afternoon, playing down for the final 12 minutes of the contest, including 52 seconds into the extra period claiming an 18-17 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win over host Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.
  • Morrisville led 16-11 with 11:23 remaining in the fourth quarter, before the hosts battled back with a 5-0 run to even the contest at 16 with 3:47 to go.
  • Freshman Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) posted the man-down tally to give the Mustangs the edge with 2:08 to go, but the hosts once again evened it up with 1:19 to force the extra time.
  • In the sudden victory overtime period, senior Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) won the draw control and within 52 seconds Mary Trowbridge (Brookhaven Hamlet, N.Y.) buried the game winner for the Mustangs.
  • Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) paved the way for the Mustangs with eight goals and two assists, collecting 12 draw controls, while teammate Jazlyn Leet (Richford, N.Y.) added two of her own to go along with four draws.
  • Baum finished with one goal and four assists, with four additional teammates each adding one goal to contribute to the scoring.
  • Ingersoll added a hat trick and assist for four points, adding two ground balls, four caused turnovers and four draws to her totals.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) recorded the win with 16 stops across 60:52 of play.

  • Morrisville returns to the field Wednesday, hosting SUNY Canton in the home finale on Drake Field at 4 p.m.
