MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team posted a 4-1 United East record across the 2023 conference schedule, finishing second overall in the regular standings to earn the second seed in the upcoming league championship tournament.
St. Mary's College (MD) will serve as the host site for the tournament, after finishing as the top overall seed.
Morrisville will meet third seeded Mount Aloysius for a second time this season on Friday, May 5 at 1 p.m. in St. Mary's City, Maryland in the first of two semifinals scheduled.
Lancaster Bible claimed the fourth seed with a 2-3 league record.
Morrisville, who compiled a 7-8 overall record throughout the regular season, defeated Mount Aloysius 20-4 in the league opener on April 1.
In the contest, the Mustangs had four net five or more points, while limiting the visitors to just 12 total shots on the afternoon.
Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) led the way with six goals and two assists, also snagging nine ground balls and causing four turnovers across the contest, while
Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) added eight points behind five goals and three assists.
Baum also collected four draws, caused four turnovers and snagged four ground balls.
Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) got in on the scoring with her five tallies, while
Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) notched three to go along with two assists.
Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) posted the win in net with two stops.
Morrisville led 11-3 at the break before rattling off nine in the second half en route to the win.
The winner of each semi-final will square off in the final which is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seahawks James L. Roberts Stadium. The winner will earn the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championship.
