Morrisville women roll to 20-4 win to open United East play

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team opened United East play Saturday afternoon in dominating fashion, collecting a 20-4 league win over visiting Mount Aloysius College on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville rolled to an 11-3 halftime lead and didn't look back in the second as they toppled visiting Mount Aloysius 20-4 in the United East opener for the Mustangs on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Morrisville held the 26-6 advantage in shots on goal and edged the Mounties in both ground balls and draw controls, capturing 16 draws to Mount Aloysius' 11, with the 26-21 lead in ground ball pickups.
  • Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) each posted eight points to lead the Mustang offensive efforts, McDonald netting a team high six goals and two assists, while adding three ground balls, nine draw control wins and four caused turnovers.
  • Baum poured in five tallies while assisting another three, adding four ground balls and four draws to her totals to go along with four caused turnovers.
  • Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) joined the hat trick efforts with her five scores, also collecting five ground balls; while teammate Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) notched a five-point game with the hat trick, adding two assists.
  • Jillian Dodge (Jamesville, N.Y.) added to the Mustang scoring with a goal, while teammates Keeley Riley (Dexter, N.Y.) and Sarah Lutz (Parker, Colo.) each registered an assist.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) posted the win with two stops in net.
  • Mount Aloysius scored the first tally of the afternoon for an early 1-0 lead, but that was short lived as Morrisville rattled off five straight over the ensuing four minutes to claim a 5-1 advantage.
  • Ringgold was the first to put one on the board for Morrisville, burying the feed from Lutz at the 12:01 mark.
  • Less than a minute later, Baum collected her first of the day, off the dish from McDonald, and added another within seconds off the pass in from Ringgold.
  • Baum posted a third straight at 10:08, an unassisted tally as she rolled the crease, while Treadway posted her first a minute later for the four-goal advantage.
  • The Mounties posted two straight to cut the lead to two, but Ringgold added a second score before the end of the quarter to send the Mustangs into the second with a 6-3 lead.
  • Morrisville added to it's lead with a five goal second quarter, Treadway collecting her second, before McDonald and Baum netted two more apiece for the 11-3 halftime advantage.
  • Mount Aloysius collected one early in the third on a free position, but it was all Morrisville after, as the hosts fired off nine additional goals to collect the win.

  • Morrisville will return to the field Wednesday, traveling to Keuka College for a non-league matchup before heading to Wells on the 8th for a second conference outing of the season.
