Morrisville women roll to win over Berks

READING, PA – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team upped their United East record to 11-2 overall Wednesday night as they rolled to a 75-48 league win over host Penn St. Berks in Reading, Pennsylvania.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville used a strong opening quarter to down host Penn St. Berks Wednesday evening, claiming the United East win 75-48 on the Nittany Lions home court in Reading, Pa.
  • Morrisville raced out to an early 24-7 first quarter lead hitting nearly 50% from the floor as they drained five three-pointers.
  • The Mustangs added five more in the second quarter from long range to build up a 43-17 halftime lead.
  • Morrisville, who wrapped up the contest hitting 53.33% from the floor in the fourth quarter, gained 25 points off Nittany Lion miscues on the night.
  • Taylor Colone-Microni (Oneonta, N.Y.) led all scorers with 15, hitting all five attempts from beyond the arc, while assisting three and snagging four boards.
  • Tayghan Doorley (Hornell, N.Y.) added 13, three three-pointers, while assisting three and four rebounds.
  • Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Calif.) rounded out the scoring leaderboard with 10 points, assisting three and collecting two steals.

  • Morrisville returns to the court for the final home game of the regular season Tuesday, hosting Wells College in a 5 p.m. start for the league contest.
