  • Morrisville, who completed the regular season 3-3 overall in Empire 8 play, held Hartwick to just 25 yards rushing on the day and 232 total offensive yards, while allowing just one offensive score across the afternoon.
  • Signal caller Steven Frerichs (Wilson, N.Y.) completed 14-of-19 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown on the day, hitting five different receivers across the afternoon, including Jarrell Chaney (Albany, N.Y.) who reined in six for 77 yards.
  • Senior Justin Adams (West Babylon, N.Y.) added four receptions for 55 yards and a score. 0
  • Emmett Wood (Barton, N.Y.) had a breakout game as a freshman, carrying the ball 19 times for 95-net yards and a score, while Frerichs added to the running game with his 10 carries for 68 yards and three touchdown scores.
  • Morrisville's defense limited Carlvin McDonald to just 23 net yards on the afternoon in 15 attempts and forced quarterback Kyle Szokoli into three interceptions as he completed 25-of-33 passes for 207 yards and a score.
  • Justin LoBasso had 82 yards on 10 catches to lead the Hawk receiving unit.
  • Morrisville senior linebacker Philemon Benjamin, Jr. (Queens, N.Y.) led the defensive charge with nine tackles, registering one for a loss of a yard, while recording a quarterback hurry.
  • Fellow senior Joe Miller-LaBar (Groton, N.Y.) added eight, posting a sack for a loss of nine yards, while Anai Brake (Carteret, N.J.) added five stops.
  • Morrisville registered three interceptions on the afternoon, the first from Omar Jarvis (Rochester, N.Y.) who also recorded five tackles, a second from Evan Salvaggio (Geneseo, N.Y.) who returned the ball 68 yards, and a third from Ernesto Mitchell (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) for a 56-yard return.
  • Morrisville deferred the opening coin toss and on the first Hartwick drive proved the afternoon would be difficult for the Hawks to navigate offensively.
  • On the third play of the contest, Szokoli was picked off by Jarvis at midfield, setting up a 48-yard scoring drive for the Mustangs just under four minutes in, as Frerichs got a block on the right by the line to scamper 21-yards into the end zone for the early lead.
  • Owen Cole (Maspeth, N.Y.) completed the point after for the 7-0 Mustang advantage.
  • On the ensuing Hartwick drive, Morrisville's defensive forced a quick three-and-out to regain possession just two minutes later, adding to their lead as Frerichs hit a wide-open Adams in the left corner of the end zone for the touchdown score, a 29-yard pass play that was capped off by a Cole point-after, for the 14-0 lead.
  • After forcing Morrisville to punt on the first play of the second quarter, Hartwick attempted to put together a drive starting at their own 10-yard line, but once again the defense limited the Hawks as Salvaggio snagged the ball out of the air at the Mustangs own seven, returning it deep into Hartwick territory to set up a rushing score for the freshman running back.
  • Wood pounded the ball up center for the six-yard score, his first of his collegiate career.
  • Hartwick was able to put a defensive score on the board with 30 seconds remaining before half, scooping up the dropped fumble for a 14-yard touchdown return.
  • Morrisville responded on their first drive of the second half to regain a three-possession lead with a quarterback keep up center for the four-yard rushing score by Frerichs.
  • Szokoli marched the Hawks downfield into Mustang territory, but once again, the Mustangs defense clipped the wings as they intercepted the quarterback for a third time, this time Mitchell stepping in front and returning the ball 56 yards.
  • The turnover set up yet another Mustang score, a third from Frerichs as he trucked up center for the four-yard rushing touchdown, and 35-6 Morrisville lead.
  • Morrisville's longest drive of the day came in the fourth quarter of action as Cole capped off the 87-yard, 14-play drive with a 18-yard field goal following a drive that saw the ball within inches of crossing the goal line on a scamper by Wood.
  • Hartwick's lone offensive score came late in the fourth with seconds remaining on the clock as Szokoli connected with Logan Mullane for the 33-yard just inside the pylon tally.
  • The two-point conversion attempt failed with the receiver stepping out of the back of the endzone before having possession of the ball.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Morrisville (7-3) has declared for the post-season with the ECAC, and will learn if the season continues Monday during the selection show for the ECAC.
