Morrisville women fall short in NEAC title game

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team trailed by 25 at the half of Sunday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Final played against SUNY Polytechnic, and fought their way back in the second half, but ran out of time as they finished as the league's runner-ups.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • SUNY Morrisville women's basketball battled back from a 26-point deficit Sunday afternoon but fell short as they completed the 2019-20 season as the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) runner-ups against SUNY Poly in the league's championship final held in Marcy.
  • Senior Tori Rockefeller (South Kortright, N.Y.) and Brooke Hammersley (Weedsport, N.Y.) each posted 18 points for the Mustangs in the efforts, combining for 11 three-pointers and seven assists, while snagging 10 total rebounds.
  • Hammersley hit all six of her three's in the second half of action, draining all but one attempt from around the arc.
  • Taylor Colone-Microni (Oneonta, N.Y.) added 11 points off the bench for the Mustangs, while teammate Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Calif.) added eight points.
  • Rockefeller wrapped up her collegiate career with team high's six assists, and seven rebounds.
  • Morrisville, who struggled from the floor in the opening half of action, came out of the gates in the second on fire, and hit 10 of their team total 16 three's, five in each quarter of action.
  • The Mustangs received a heavy point total from their bench, 32 points, and capitalized off SUNY Poly turnovers, collecting 17 total points off 18 collective Wildcat miscues.
