Morrisville women roll to win over Lancaster Bible

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team used a strong first half Saturday afternoon to pick up their first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory, as they topped visiting Lancaster Bible College 76-42.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball outscored Lancaster 23-10 in the opening quarter and didn't take the foot off the gas for the remainder of the contest as they rolled to a 76-42 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win over the visiting Chargers Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.
  • The all-around team effort had two net double-figures for the Mustangs, including senior Tori Rockefeller (South Kortright, N.Y.) who collected 18 to go along with two steals and four rebounds.
  • Newcomer Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Calif.) added a season high 17, collecting six rebounds, while dishing out three assists and registering seven steals.
  • Brooke Hammersley (Weedsport, N.Y.) contributed nine points in the win, while Anna Raymond (Newark, N.Y.) contributed five rebounds to go along with six points.
  • Caitlin Hickey led the Charger efforts with 11 points and nine boards, while fellow teammate Paige Towne contributed eight points.
  • Lancaster scored the first two buckets of the contest, before a three by Vieira put the Mustangs on the board, fueling a 23-5 over the remainder of the opening quarter to break open the game with a 23-10 host advantage.
  • The hosts opened the second with the first 13 points of the quarter, increasing their lead to 26, and ultimately a 39-19 advantage at the break.
  • Morrisville kept the foot on the gas in the third, increasing their lead to 33, before edging the Chargers in the final frame to roll to the win.
  • The Mustangs forced 29 Lancaster Bible turnovers across the contest, adding 32 points to their tallies as the took advantage of the Charger miscues.
  • A total of 34 points came from the Mustang bench, 26 alone from its freshman class.

  • Morrisville will return to the court on Saturday, December 14th, traveling to Utica College for the first semester finale.
