Morrisville women stumble in opening round of Oswego tourney

OSWEGO, N.Y. – First quarter struggles plagued the visiting Morrisville women's basketball team as they fell behind by an unrecoverable margin, dropping the opening round of the Oswego Tournament Tip-off by a 65-33 final Friday evening in Oswego.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Clarkson jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter before Morrisville was able to get on the board in the Friday non-league match up in the opening round of the Oswego Tip-Off Tournament and didn't look back as they overpowered the Mustangs for the 65-33 final.
  • Alexis Campbell (Buffalo, N.Y.) led Morrisville's scoring efforts with eight points, five coming from the free throw line, while adding a steal and two rebounds.
  • Shardae Cooper (Rochester, N.Y.) and Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Cali.) added six points apiece, combining for five boards.
  • Morrisville, who shot a mere 17.9% from the floor across the contest, turned the ball over 20 times, resulting in 21 points for Clarkson, who shot 45.0% from the floor during the contest.
  • Clarkson outgained the Mustangs 54-30 on the boards, but had a total 26 turnovers of their own, as Morrisville collected 12 points.
