MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Potsdam used a four goal run half way through the second half to top Morrisville State College women's lacrosse by a 19-9 final Thursday night.

Elizabeth Leva (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) led Morrisville's attack with three goals, while Courtney Cavellier (Rodman, N.Y.) contributed with a pair of goals.

Two additional Mustangs posted two goals, as well as an assist, apiece including Jenna Harris (Owego, N.Y.) and Jackie O'Sullivan (Cazenovia, N.Y.).

Cailin Dunphy (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) recorded the loss, while turning away six shots and causing three turnovers.

Morrisville State kept within striking distance in the first half until Potsdam's Murphy Newman scored three to push the lead to 10-5 at halftime in favor of the Bears. Leva put two in the back of the net in the first half, while teammates O'Sullivan, Harris, and Cavellier each added a goal apiece.

Following Cavellier's second goal of the game with 20 minutes remaining in the second half, Potsdam used a four-goal run to take command in the game. O'Sullivan broke the scoring drought for the Mustangs at the 8:41 mark, but it wasn't enough as Potsdam collected the win.

The Mustangs will return to their turf on Saturday, April 9, as they take on Route 20 rival Cazenovia College in their second conference game of the year. First face-off is set for 1 p.m.
