Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's basketball team used a strong second half to topple visiting Cazenovia College 76-58 Friday night in Morrisville in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action to close out the regular season.
The win boosts Morrisville State to 18-7 overall, 14-4 in NEAC play.
Junior Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) became the first Morrisville State women's basketball player to net 1,000 collegiate points, reaching the milestone on a free throw late in the opening quarter as she collected her 10th point of the opening frame. She is just one of five total basketball players, including men, to reach the milestone mark.
Anderson finished with 13 in the contest, also compiling five assists and five steals on the night.
Charlotte Walker (Middle Island, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 16 points, snagging nine rebounds, while senior teammate Caitlynn Adams (Sherburne, N.Y.) posted a double-double on senior night behind her 15 point, 11 rebound performance. Adams also dished out four assists and collected four steals for the Mustangs.
Skylar Girard led Cazenovia's efforts with 15 points, while teammate Kelli Shepardson added 10, also collecting 10 rebounds in the Wildcat efforts.
Morrisville State dominated the glass, outrebounding the visitors 55 to 38.
The Mustangs led by just three at the half, before rolling out to a 56-47 lead after three quarters. They then put the game out of reach in the fourth, outscoring Cazenovia 20-11.
Morrisville State will return to the court Tuesday, as they await their opponent as announced by the conference office, in the NEAC Championship Tournament.
Prior to the contest, Morrisville State honored Adams, in its senior ceremony.
