Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College sophomore guard, Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) posted a collegiate high 28 points to lead the hosts to a 71-52 non-conference victory over visiting SUNY Canton Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville.
The win lifts the Mustangs to 5-4 as they head into the weekend, resuming North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action against SUNY Cobleskill Saturday.
Kilmartin shot 50% from the floor on 9-of-18 shots, adding four rebounds, four assists and three steals to her tallies on the day. Nine of her points came from the free throw line as she converted all but one attempts.
Caitlynn Adams (Sherburne, N.Y.) also notched double figures for the Mustangs, collecting her third double-double on the season behind a 13 point, 10 rebound performance. Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) contributed eight assists and four steals in the victory.
Canton had two post double figures, including Caseylynn Fulton who led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Brianna Sayer added 16 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
Morrisville State broke out to a 19-10 lead after the opening quarter behind Kilmartin's 11 points, and didn't look back as they cruised to a 33-21 lead at the break.
The Mustangs forced 22 Canton miscues, which they converted to 21 points, including 10 in the opening quarter.
Morrisville State went 28-for-66 from the field on the night, adding another 12-for-17 from the free throw line, while holding Canton to 33.8% shooting on 22-of-65 shots.
Game time against Cobleskill is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Morrisville.
