Morrisville State women drop heartbreaker to SUNY Poly, 55-51

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker Wednesday night, falling to SUNY Polytechnic 55-51 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in Morrisville.

The loss drops the Mustangs to 8-6 overall, 4-3 in NEAC play; while SUNY Poly ups their record to 9-4, 6-0 in conference action.

Stevie Ray led all scorers with 22 on the night for the Wildcats, adding eight rebounds as she drained five from long range. Lauren Knowles collected the double-double with a 14 point, 10 rebound performance, while teammate Geena Gallo rounded out the Poly leaderboard with 11 points, adding nine rebounds.

Haley Kilmartin (Fort Plain, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 16 points, and seven rebounds, while teammate Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) contributed 15 points and four assists in Morrisville State's efforts. Caitlynn Adams (Sherburne, N.Y.) led Morrisville State on the glass, collecting a team high nine.

SUNY Poly led 27-22 at the half, before Morrisville State battled back within three after the third quarter.

The Mustangs pulled to within two with 50 seconds to go in the game, but the Wildcats hit two free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Morrisville State returns to the floor Saturday, traveling to Wilson College.
