MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the winners of its women's lacrosse weekly honors Tuesday, naming Morrisville State College's Cassie Edmondson (Oshawa, Ontario) the Division III Mid-Atlantic Co-Defensive Player of the Week

The senior racked up 14 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers in addition to five goals and seven draw controls across two contests. She registered a dominating performance in a thrilling 16-14 win over Alfred University last Tuesday, where she notched a game and career high 10 ground balls to go along with team bests of seven caused turnovers, four goals and five draw controls.

One of Edmondson's caused turnovers came in the closing seconds of the contest on an intercepted pass that resulted in her flying past the defense as the clock wound down and scoring a game-tying goal with just eight seconds left to force the overtime period. She then went on to add two more goals, including the game winner, to lift Morrisville State to the non-conference win.

On Saturday, Edmondson added four ground balls and caused three turnovers against Misericordia to push her to the top of the conference leaderboard in both categories, 31 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers.

The graduate of Eastdale CVI is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Stacy and Chris Edmondson of Oshawa, Ontario.
