MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville western equestrian team claimed reserve and high point team honors Sunday as they competed in the Oswego IHSA competition led at the Mustangs riding arena on Swamp Road in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Morrisville western equestrian returned to their winning ways Sunday, as they took to the competition riding arena at the show hosted by Oswego at Morrisville.
• In the morning show, the Mustangs compiled 21 team points to finish second among five competing teams, with Maggie Herbert (Jeffersonville, N.Y.) taking home reserve high point rider honors behind her first-place finish in reining and second place in open western horsemanship.
• Jenna Tyson (Pottstown, Pa.) was second in the morning show in the reining class, while Summer Billings (Endicott, N.Y.) turned in a second-place ride in the Rookie B western horsemanship class, section A.
• Alyson Hyatt (Patterson, N.Y.) also collected a second-place ride in the level I western horsemanship class, section B, before Kada Tillman (Orange Beach, Ala.) added a second-place ride in the rookie A western horsemanship class.
• Rebecca Bushen (North Collins, N.Y.) was the top rider for the Mustangs in the beginner horsemanship class, finishing second.
• In the afternoon show, Morrisville rode to the top of the team competition to collect high point team accolades, while the university of Guelph took home reserve honors.
• Amelia Jaworski (Lafayette, N.Y.) was reserve high point rider with a second-place ride in the reining class alongside a second in the open western horsemanship class.
• Tyson collected the blue ribbon in reining for the Mustangs, while Billings was the top rode in the rookie B western horsemanship, section A class.
• Mikenna Riethmiller (North Collins, N.Y.) was the winner for the Mustangs in the open western horsemanship class, and Hyatt collected the win in the level II western horsemanship class after pointing up.
• Bushen finished second overall in the beginner class, while Alexandria Cary (Salem, N.Y.) claimed her first in in the rookie A western class, followed by Tillman in second.

 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 

• Morrisville returns to the riding arena on Sunday, March 3, hosting the IHSA Western Regional Championships at their indoor riding arena in Morrisville. Competition begins at 9 a.m. at the Swamp Road facility.
